About The Event

Purpose: Gathering of educational change agents from throughout the Pacific to:

  • prepare for 2020 start up of EA Ecoversity
  • assist in creating other culturally-based, 21st century education models
  • engage in traditional protocol, cultural sharing and dynamic discussions on sustainable, island-focused education
  • achieve higher levels of consciousness, as we manifest models of education that are at once ancient and modern, help re-create island sustainability, and revitalize our native languages, cultures and traditions
  • network with like-minded individuals
  • and have lots of fun.....

Venue: Kahumana, an organic farm located in the beautiful Waiʻanae District. Kahumana offers a unique setting, which aligns with the intent and spirit of the international Ecoversities Movement, and provides a truly restful environment of healing and wholeness, and an opportunity to connect with the land.

Sponsor: Kū-A-Kanaka, a social enterprise incubating EA Ecoversity, with the help of a dynamic design team and multiple community partners. EA stands for Education with Aloha, a Hawaiian-focused pedagogy, with over two decades of successfully passing on to the next generation of native Hawaiians the knowledge of how to lead more healthy, happy, balanced and culturally-grounded lives. The goal of EA Ecoversity, scheduled for start-up in 2020, is to transition Native Hawaiian ʻōpio, or youth, to kanaka makua, or responsible adults, and provide them with the skills to revitalize our native language, culture and traditions and re-create a sustainable Hawaiʻi, while achieving their highest potential.

Funding: Partially funded through a grant from the Ecoversities Network. This network is made up of over 70 innovators from over 40 countries aiming to cultivate new stories, practices and possibilities that reconnect and regenerate local ecological and cultural ecosystems, reclaim our vast local knowledge systems and cultural imaginations, and restore and re-envision learning processes that are meaningful and relevant to the call of our times.

We hope you can join us for this special gathering to work towards positive changes in education throughout the Pacific, as we collectively make the world a better place.
